SOCIAL DOC / FORMAT
FIRST CONTACT is a bold documentary series that confronts racism head on with a life-changing and immersive experience across two 3×60′ seasons.
Canadians’ opinions about Indigenous Peoples are largely formed without any knowledge of the culture’s true history or firsthand experience of present-day communities. This has resulted in the prevalence of racist, unsympathetic and generally prejudicial attitudes towards Indigenous Peoples across the country. Both series’ of First Contact follow a group of average Canadians, all with strong opinions about Indigenous Peoples, as they embark on a journey into the heart of Indigenous communities that will challenge their views, confront their prejudices and turn their lives upside down.
